Petroleum Regulator Changes Bid Norms For CNG, PNG Sale Licence

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) on Wednesday released new rules on bidding for obtaining a licence to retail compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) in cities.

 

Under the fresh parameters, future auctions would be conducted by asking companies to quote the number of CNG stations to be set up, while for PNG it would be the number of domestic cooking gas connections to be given in the first eight years of operation. Bidders quoting higher numbers of these would be given more marks.

Commodity Tips:- Crude Oil Futures Settle Near 3-Year Highs

Crude oil futures to their highest since November 2014, picking up 2.4% for the week, as rising worries over the economic crisis in Venezuela and possible new sanctions against Iran increased the potential for tighter global crude supplies and sent prices back to their highest settlement since late 2014. Venezuela and Iran are both members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. An OPEC survey conducted by S&P Global Platts showed Friday that the group’s crude production in April fell for a third straight month to a one-year low. It produced 32 million barrels a day last month, down 140,000 barrels a day from March, with the survey attributing the drop to Caracas falling output.    Benchmark crude oil futures for June delivery jumped by $1.29 or 1.90 percent to settle at $69.72 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
